FLUE GAS CONDENSATION
the smart move to increase energy efficiency from flue gas and biomass
recover residual heat and convert it into
usable thermal energy
Flue gas condensation significantly increases the overall efficiency of the plant, reduces fuel consumption and delivers measurable economic returns. This system can be easily integrated as a component in existing and new biomass plants.
Achieve the best-in-class efficiency by turning waste heat into profit. By reducing residual heat loss from 150–180 °C to maximum 50–60 °C at the chimney, we help you unlock the hidden economic and ecological potential in your flue gas – significantly boosting your plant’s overall efficiency.
flue gas condenser
The SAVE ENERGY flue gas condenser recovers sensible and latent heat from polluted flue gas by injecting process water directly into the gas stream. The surfaces of millions of continuously renewed water droplets form an extremely large effective heat exchanger area – equivalent to several soccer fields.
The absorbed heat is transferred to the heat consumer (e.g., district heating return line) via a plate heat exchanger. Due to the large droplet surface, very high heat recovery efficiency is achieved, cooling the flue gas to only 2-3 °C above the consumer temperature.
Sustainable water management
As there is no solid mechanical heat exchanger in contact with the flue gas, the system is not susceptible to fouling or corrosion, resulting in low maintenance requirements and high operational reliability.
Cooling below the dew point causes water vapor in the flue gas to condense. The condensate is neutralized and treated in the water treatment system, with only purified surplus discharged. Therefore, the SAVE ENERGY condenser operates mostly without fresh water consumption.
Scrubbing effect & dust removal
Through intensive process water injection, the condenser simultaneously acts as a flue gas scrubber. Coarse dust particles are captured by the liquid droplets and transported to the water treatment system. This pre-cleaning significantly improves the performance of the downstream wet electrostatic precipitator, which removes fine particulate matter.
